Visiting my dad in Pennsylvania!

Matt and I had a fun get away last weekend! My dad moved to Erie, PA a few months ago and we had been wanting to go see his new place... so my dad was awesome and used his frequent flier miles to get us plane tickets to come see him. Friday we had about a 3 hour delay at the airport, but it was no big deal and we got to Clevland safely. My dad picked us up from Cleavland and drove us about an hour to his house in Erie, PA. Since we were late getting in town we went out to dinner and explored the town the first night. Here is Matt at Lake Erie skipping rocks...Doesn't it look just like the ocean? You can see the Canadian Geese in the background.
Isn't the sunset beautiful? If I lived there, I think I would spend every evening at the beach watching the sunset! So romantic!
The next morning we rented some kayaks and explored the peninsula. Here we are by some lily pads. Matt picked a water lily for me... isn't he sweet! Janie, I love the pig tails... so cute!
Janie (my sister) and I were in a canoe so we could work together to row... we don't have as much arm strength as the boys!
Here's my dad! He has his own kayak. He is going to have so much fun using it and exploring even more around the peninsula! Look how calm the water is...
In the afternoon we drove through New York and into Canada to see Niagara Falls. Isn't it amazing!
Here's the whole family! :) I love this picture! I'm going to order it and put it in a frame.
A rainbow appeared after lunch! We could see both ends and there was no treasure anywhere! The "Maid of the Mist" boat drove right into the rainbow.
Sunday morning we got up early and drove back to Cleavland to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum. Isn't the building interesting?
At the entrance of the museum there were these giant guitars... Here is my dad rocking out on the George Harrison guitar! :)
After the museum we had to head back to the airport. It was a really fun trip and it was great to see my dad since we hadn't seen him in a few months! Thanks for everything dad!

Happy Anniversary My Love!

I have an amazing husband. He just came home for lunch and brought me these beautiful "passion" roses! The flowers smell so nice... I love you so much honey!
Matt also had a little gift for me... A PINK ESV Bible!!! haha... We really are prefect for each other! Guess what I got him for our anniversary?!? An ESV Bible... but the one I got him is plain black which is much more manly! We both had been wanting ESV Bibles since those are the kind that they use at our church.
To celebrate our 3 wonderful years of being married, tonight we are going out to dinner to an cute Italian place in Denton! I'm excited!

Steering Students toward Mathematics Excellence!

So I have been at a math conference the last three days in downtown Dallas . It has been so much fun and I have learned so many cool new thing that I can do with my students this next year. If you are a math teacher K-College... I definitely recommend that you go next year! Here is the website for more info: http://www.utdanacenter.org/camt/

So the theme this year is "Steering Students toward Mathematics Excellence!" and here is the mascot:And they did a raffle to see who would get to take him to their campus and keep him! And guess what out of the 6,000 people there... I WON!!! haha... just kidding... Even though he was pink... I didn't want him, so I didn't enter the raffle and therefore guaranteeing that I didn't win him!

I did buy an amazing book though... It is full of fun of math songs. If you want to order one for your classroom, go to www.mathsongs.com

That's the couple that wrote all of the songs... they are so entertaining! I had her autograph my book. Here is an example of one of their songs:
Tune: "The Yellow Rose of Texas")
Copyright 2002, Kay A. Smitherman.

There are songs about division,
Perimeter, percent,
Geometry, equations,
Place value, exponents.
So from elementary to alge-
Bra just sing along.
The lyrics are math lessons
And the tunes familiar songs

Yes, I realize that I'm a math nerd and I'm ok with that. :)

Happy 4th of July!

This is the flag cake that my mom used to always make when I was younger. I decided to carry on the tradition and make it this year for independence day. It is so easy, but sooo yummy! You just bake a white cake (from the box) and when its cool use cool whip and berries to make a flag. Make sure the berries are dry or else it will make a mess! :)Here's Luke... he just keeps getting bigger and bigger! We're getting ready to go swimming on the 4th.
This is Tiffany, Me, and Sarah... We got to Las Colinas early and to get a good spot to watch firework. And of course the boys had to do some fishing in the lake!
Matt is playing with Luke... he is going to be such a good father.... someday!
Right before the firework... I was a little more excited to see the fireworks than Matt, but he loves me so he was enjoying all my excitement.

I just really love fireworks!
After the grand finale there was a fire in the field where they were shooting the fireworks off... We were safe though because it was on the other side of the lake. The firemen were there standing by so the the fire didn't get too out of hand... but fireworks are dangerous and all of you people who shoot of your own should be very careful!!!
On Saturday we had some friend over to hang out. Matt smoked a brisket and it turned out really well! Third times the charm! :) Here is everybody... thanks for coming over guys! I had lot of fun!
