3 Weeks Old

Jackson is 3 weeks old today. This is the newborn sleeper we brought him home from the hospital in. It was way too big at the time, but now it fits perfect. How is he growing so fast? Here he is laying on the blanket that his Great Grandma Wear made for us.
This morning he found his thumb!
So cute!
Here he is in the puppy dog outfit yesterday that Deedra got for him when he was born. Matt says he looks bigger when he has pants on (which isn't very often because it just adds another step when you change his diaper.. which is every hour or two).
We planted a tree for Jackson in the front yard today. I'm excited about watching them grow together.

His Name

Matt and I really put a lot of thought into what to name our little baby boy. There were lots of different criteria that his name had to have. The name's meaning was one of the most important factors that we considered. Jackson means "God is Gracious" and Matthew means "God's Gift". When we put the two names together we knew that his name really describes what he means to us. Thus,

Jackson Matthew means
"God's Gracious Gift"

We truly believe that Jackson Matthew is an amazing blessing from the Lord and are so thankful for him.

I took him to the doctor today for his checkup because he is 2 weeks old tomorrow. The doctor said that he must be eating well because he has almost gained a whole pound since his last appointment a week ago. He now weighs 7 lbs 5 ounces!

The pictures are a preview of his newborn pictures that were taken on Saturday by Laura Wells.

First Week at Home

Jackson was 1 week old yesterday! Seems like it went by so fast. Matt went back to work yesterday and when he got home he said, "He got bigger since this morning!"

He loves being swaddled! He's pretty good at getting his arms free though.
"Mommy I'm cold! Wrap me back up!"
On Saturday, Aunt Janie came to visit from Austin. Jackson loved sleeping in her arms.
He loves sleeping on Daddy too... ok, he just loves to sleep, but he looks extra comfy here. Matt has been an amazing daddy!!!!!
More sleeping.... this time in the pack n play.
On Sunday, he is in his football outfit and ready for the Super Bowl. He has his eyes open in this one!
Peace dude....
On Monday, Jackson went to for his first check up at the doctor. It was cold outside so we had to bundle up. Dr. Jones said he was doing great. He was really hungry though so he cried the whole time we were there. I fed him before we left and everything was all better. He was 6 lbs 6.5 oz, 20.5 inches long, and 13.25 inch head this time.Riding in the car is magic. It makes him go straight to sleep. There are those beautiful eyes...
On Tuesday, mommy and daddy gave him his first bath. He really seemed to enjoy it.On Wednesday, Daddy had to go back to work so Grandma came and helped Mommy with Jackson. He tried out tummy time.
Fell asleep during tummy time...
So so so precious!!!!
Today, on Thursday, it is Mommy first day alone with baby Jackson. So far, so good. We both did a lot of sleeping! :) God sent us a little present though... Lots of snow! It's too cold for us outside, so I just took a picture of the snow through the window.

In the delivery room they got him all cleaned up in the bassinet right next to my bed. I love the face he is making. I think he looks just like his daddy in this picture.
Putting his first little shirt on him and wrapping him up so he will be warm and mommy can hold him.My first time holding him in the delivery room after he was all warmed up. This is just minutes after he was born.
Mommy and Daddy with Jackson. This is our first family picture with all three of us.Grandma, GiGi, Pawpaw, Uncle Jeremy, and Aunt Missy all arrived to the hospital right before he was born. They got to visit us while we were still in the delivery room. Grandma is holding him here for the first time.
